said he's gonna go out and he's gonna get married
He's gotta pass on his daddy's name
because if he didn't, it would be a shame
and we know he wants a son, but I hope his daughter's okay.
And when it's late at night and white suburbia is tucked in tight
John lays awake with a wandering mind

He thinks about Jesus Christ and all of his time

"If you work for a living, why do you work yourself to death?"

a plastic smile shrink-wrapped for you
and it was made very far away
by young small hands earning cents a day
and toxic waste, it runs downstream
but you don't care about the things that you cannot see,
it's powered by our aching feet

and you try your best to shake these violent thoughts from your mind.
